Our Programs

We offer 7 major programs serving over 700 students and their families annually. Each student's talents and interests are celebrated to produce a learning experience that is both planned and spontaneous. Our programs have been carefully designed to promote self-awareness and inner growth, knowledge of African culture, the meaning of community and the importance of respecting and loving one another.

We offer alternatives that are positive, productive and real that include skills development, positive encouragement, provide resources, and renders self-confidence and responsibility.

For more information on each of our programs, please click on the links above.

In these programs and all of its work, Ifetayo embodies the seven principles (nzugo saba) of Kwanzaa which include:

  • Unity
  • Self-determination
  • Collective work and responsibility
  • Cooperative economics
  • Purpose
  • Creativity
  • Faith

These principles serve as the basis for daily life at Ifetayo and are reflected in all aspects of the programs, as well as the way in which staff and volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to be a part of the Ifetayo community.
